Between militancy and activism: after all, what Podemos? An analysis of different engagement strategies of the subjects on causes and of the causes on subjects.
This study assumes Militancy and Activism as strategies to produce groups engaged to causes and able to stand for the material conditions to produce changes; it aims to develop a comparison between them. Activism and Militancy will be understood as institutions in French Institutional Analysis sense. According to Rene Laureau, one of the most influential French institutionalist thinkers, institutions are operating logic permeating the social field and gain expression in different contexts. To characterize Militancy and Activism as institutions, we must answer some important questions: A) what was the historical context responsible for the creation of these strategies? B) how these institutions organize their resources and develop tactics for the production of engagement? C) How activism and militancy are updated for the practices of activists and militants? D) What are the modes of subjectivity produced by these institutions? Describe activism and militancy, monitor how they coexist in the organization and functioning of the Spanish political party Podemos is the aim of this research.
The study is anchored in the axis of qualitative and participatory research in the humanities. It will be guided by the French Institutional Analysis; it will use Michel Foucault's genealogy methodology; it will make use of ethnographic data collection procedures; it will conduct interviews and build content analysis starting from interpretive matrices fruits of collected data triangulation. The report of research will be done through an essay. The execution will demand four stages. In the first and second, will be used literature research and semi-structured interviews. The third will be an ethnographic immersion in the Spanish political party Podemos in Barcelona, and the fourth stage aims to produce a final text that will make up the doctoral thesis.
